Dalen Gardeneer E3-16B Hammer Edge Pound-In Edging, Black, 18-Feet Review

Unless you have soft loamy soil, you'll be trenching. I spent a couple of hours trying to hammer this stuff in and the piece I was beating on would go in, but everything else down the line would pop out. I tried 1 piece at a time, 2, 3, 4, etc... it didn't make any difference. As soon as you connect them, something down the line would come out. I finally bought a edging/trenching tool and finished the project.
Bottom line, unless you have ideal soil, you'll be cutting an edge so get the trim you like. Besides, it's actually faster and easier to trench than it is to hammer. If I would have realized that out the outset, I would have purchased another, more flexible type of edging, but it works and it might be the look you are after--cute scalloped edge. Mine is nearly flush with the lawn as it was meant to keep grass out of the planting beds, so it isn't ideal for what I wanted. I was just trying to avoid trenching. Silly me! It's somewhat flexible and I do have curves in my beds, but it's not nearly as much as other types.
