This energizer has one fatal flaw not listed in the product description: You need to locate it near a grounding rod. But wait, not just any old piece of rebar...you need one that is either galvanized steel or copper-clad, and it must be at least 6 feet long in good soil. Oh, and that means you also need a grounding rod clamp. The soil in my region is like clay and can get very dry sometimes so I would require an even LONGER grounding rod.Faced with no convenient alternative (ground rod installation tools are expensive) I hooked it to the grounding rod used by my house's electrical system, and still the resulting shocks were barely felt despite only charging about 60' of 16 guage wire.
It's a real drag for sure. Save yourself some time and avoid it. The wired version is much easier to deal with and it's cheaper.
