This is a truly great product. I have had a couple of wool sweaters come back from the dry cleaner rough and stiff, albeit clean. It is really true that the cleaning solution removes the natural oils that keep your wool soft. When I needed to clean a cashmere sweater, I purchased The Laundress Cashmere Shampoo. My sweater came out clean, soft and smelling wonderful (if you like the scent of cedar). You do have to have patience to swish your sweater in a tub, rinse and wrap in a towel, then lay flat. You will be rewarded a thousand times over, though. My sweaters actually seemed to be in better condition than when they went into the tub.
