I have not applied this long enough to know what the long-term prevention of new weeds is, but it definitely kills existing weeds if you spray the entire plant. I've sprayed plenty of weeds and grass in my flowerbed and driveway and on a hot day, they'll be brown and wilting within hours. I'm not too comfortable spraying poisonous chemicals all over the place, but if you have to do it, this definitely seems to achieve the job.
It should be noted that this is not a battery operated sprayer. Even bottles of Natures Miracle come with a battery operated sprayer (and batteries!), but not this. You are required to pull back on a hand piston and hold it for two seconds. Then it will give you enough spraying power to cover a few square feet. Then you'll have to re-prep the pump. It would be fantastic if this came with one of those very simple battery operating pumps, even if it added a buck to the price.
==One Month Update==
Nearly a month later and the mulch/flower beds I sprayed this in to kill the existing weeds (man of which were a foot or taller) are still bare. Nothing has grown back in their place.
